Devil's Peak
About This Hike
Devil's Peak is the highest and most commanding of the three peaks of the Table Mountain massif — and the least-visited by tourists. Standing at 1,000 metres, it rises sharply above the upper city and the University of Cape Town campus, offering a panorama that takes in everything from Robben Island to the Hottentots Holland mountains on the far horizon.
The route up is sustained and real — this is a proper climb that gains altitude consistently through open fynbos-covered slopes. There's no cable car, no crowds, and no easy shortcuts. What there is, at the top, is a summit experience that very few Cape Town visitors ever have: 360° uninterrupted views with the entire city, two oceans, and Table Mountain's famous flat top spread out beside you.
This is one for those who want to earn their view. Our guide keeps the pace manageable and makes the time on the mountain genuinely rewarding — with deep knowledge of the area's ecology, the historical fort ruins on the flanks, and the best angles for photographs that don't look like anyone else's.

Important Notes
Devil's Peak is our most demanding route in terms of sustained effort. A good base fitness level is required — if you can comfortably walk uphill for 3+ hours, you can do this hike. There is no technical scrambling, but the gradient is consistent throughout. Not suitable for those with significant knee or joint issues on descent.
Park entry fee is included. We meet at the De Waal Park area — full details sent after booking. Early morning start times recommended to avoid afternoon cloud and wind on the summit.
